Padmashali Shikshan sanstha - Those far-sighted men who planted this young sapling originally belong to Telangan State of Southern Hyderabad. During
the last years of the Peshwa era (i.e. AD 1850 - 1860) the people were affected
by natural calamities like plague, famine etc. This resulted in the movement of
some Padmashali families and they moved out to several places with their weaving
equipments. The chief occupation of the Padmashali Community is weaving, which
they continued even after settling in different places.They earned a prominent
places in Solapur city due to their skill and hardwork.
In Solapur city, the Padmashali Community has progressed in various fields like the
political, social, and industrial spheres. Similarly their work in the
educational field is also praise worthy.
In order to do something more for the society and in the educational field, an association was formed.
Keeping this in mind, certain noble souls like the Late Shri Venkatesh Bet, Late Shri Hanumantayya Palli,
Late Shri Sidramappa Udata, Late Shri balkrushna Tumma, Late Shri Ramayya Mamdyal, Late Shri Sidramappa Soma,
Late Shri Vitoba Irabatti, Late ShriTimmanna Channa and others come forward in the year 1912 set up the
Padmashali Dynati Udharak Samaj Sanstha.
Later in the year 1926, setting before them certain priorities and bringing about come changes, the above
Sanstha was rechristened as 'Padmashali Samaj Shikshana Sanstha, Solapur.'
Keeping in view, the financial situation at the time, the Samaj could do nothing more than propogating and
adult educatin, facilities were provided towards freeships. Then started the Night School. In this way,
every possible measures were adopted to provide education in Marathi. This created a love for the Marathi
language and education through the Marathi Medium among the Telugu speaking people.
In the year 1942, the Sanstha come to be formally registered under the name of 'Padmashali Shikshan Sanstha'.
On 3rd Nov. 1943, began the Sanstha's first new school 'Kuchan High School', with only 42 Students. Today the
school is run in their own independent building and has approximately 3000 students.
This is the only institution in Maharashtra where students can seek education in Telugu right from the VIII std.
upto X std. Professional courses are also being conducted in the same building.
In 1985, when the strenght of the students rose to 2820 a 2-storeyed building was constructed at Ashikal Maidan to
meet the growing demands. This building has also schooled girl students from std. V and VII.
Due to a generous donation from the Kuchan Family, the Sanstha was able to start a Primany Sachool 'Kuchan Prathamik Shala'.
This is the biggest primany school in the Solapur Dist. The Strenght of this school is present 1524.
In the year 1964 with the help of Shri Shankarrao Katkam's donation the Sanstha started a Montessori for
children between the age of 3-5 years. This Montessori not only educates but also aims at their progress and
development for the coming years.
In 1974, Shri Vittalrao Shriram donated generously and the output was Shriram English Medium School. Presently
about 1177 students are being benefited from this institution.
In the year 1987, Devidas Battin Technical Institute was started in the Kuchan School Building. The different
courses offered are Electrical Supervisor (6 Months), Architectural Draftman (2 yrs.), Construction Supervisor (1 yr.),
Electrical Engineering (2 yrs.), and Draftsmanship.
Two other school - B.R. Bomdyal Balak Mandir and R.N. Bomdyal Primary School were started at Ashok Chowk area,
which proved a great boon to the students of the those areas. About 2788 students are seeking education in these schools.
In 1987 two more schools B.R. Ippakayal Balak Mandir' and R.N. Ippakayal Primay Schools where started. These are about 1218
students being educated here presently.
In 1988, Ramkrushna Bet school was started for the benefit of those who had left school half-way throgh, for the
labourers and the employed. A year later they started a junior college too. Classes VIII to XII is run here and
about 424 students are being benefited.
In the year 1991, for the benefit of the children of the Beedi makers,a secondary school was started in the locality
where they live, and further in 1994 in the same place a Balak Mandir was started. Presently approximately about 300
students are being benefied.
There was no looking back. In 1994 R.R. Burla Primary School and R.R. Burla (Balak Mandir). Nursery was started with
the generous donotion given by the late Shri Ramchandra Burla. The number of student being benefited are about 584.
Later in 1996, the Sanstha started a Nursery School at Akkalkot Road. Presently, there are about 500 students.
In 1972, Kuchan School Celebrated their 'Golden Jubilee'. There was a proposal of constructing a Community Hall earlier.
On this occasion, the dream was being fullfilled and the construction work began with the donation given by Shri Narsappa R. Ippakayal in
memory of his father. All the schools gathering, Prize Distribution Ceremony and other cultural programmers are orgnised in this hall.
The College of Fine Arts (Drawing) also meet in the hall.
Today, Padmashali Shikshan Sanstha run about 24 educational institutions. A.R. Burla Mahavidyalaya, is the only senior college,
one technical institute, one professional Shikshan Vibhag, six secondary schools, five primary schools, and seven Nurseries.
The number of students being benefitted from all these educational institutions are approximately 12964. There are 326 teachers engaged in the
noble cause of impacting knowledge to these students. A total of 89 non-teaching staff are also engaged in the smooth conduct of all there varied institutes.
