Anusayabai Ramchandra Burla Mahila Varishtha Mahavidyalaya was established in August, 1990. Currently, it is affiliated to Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holakar Solapur University, Solapur, Maharashtra state. It caters the needs of Telugu Linguistic Minority student. It also strives for linguistically, economically and culturally weaker sections of the society.
Seth Ramchandra Ramayya Burla was a successful textile businessman and manufacturer in Solapur. He pulled out all the stops to start senior college for the students hailed from Padmashali minority community. He is the donor of the many branches including Anusayabai Ramchandra Burla Mahila Mhavidyalaya. He was aware of social commitment and closely associated with the important events of the institution as a well-wisher of Padmashali Education Institution. He donated his homes to start two schools and a college. Anusayabai Ramchandra Burla Mahila Varishtha Mahavidyalaya was inaugurated by former trustee and general secretary of the institute, Gangdharpant Kuchan.
Promoting woman education with the objective of making higher education opportunities available to girls in the Eastern region of Solapur city, the institution established the college in 1990. Knowing that Burla College has responsibility to provide facilities for further higher education for girls resolved.
Burla College was accredited for the first time in 2004 by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council with B++ grade for a period of five years with CGPA of 2.79. In the second Cycle of NAAC accreditation, the college was granted B Grade with CGPA of 2.62 in the year 2012. In the third cycle of NAAC accreditation, the college was granted with B++ grade with CGPA of 2.76. The college go for Academic and Administrative audit. 20182019, the college secured Excellent grade.
The first of the college is Principal was Madhav Vitthal Joshi who provided valuable guidance in setting up a college. Since 1988, Dr. Rajendra Shadege has been the Principal of the College. The college, which started in 1990 with 20 students, has 1000 students studying today. Twenty-two years were completed in college.
Recognized by the University Grants Commission with 2(f) and 12(b), the college offers diverse programmes in the conventional, non-conventional and professional modes. Apart from this the college imparts skill and career oriented education thorough short term and certificate courses. A large number of students are benefited by support services and inter - disciplinary activities provided by the college. The college also offers access to distance mode of learning through the center of Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University. The college has sound infrastructure, highly qualified and experienced teaching staff, number of support services and established tradition to provide quality education to the needy masses deprived of education.
